BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF PARTNER
The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC), founded in 1921, is one of the most comprehensive universities in Italy. UCSC has five campuses, 14 faculties, over 50 bachelor’s programmes and over 100 master’s level programmes. UCSC is known for its well-structured and multidisciplinary educational programmes based on intensive study methods, a strong link with the world of work and the professions, along with its international accessibility. Thanks to scientific research, publication records and reputation, UCSC is accredited amongst the most prestigious European and global universities.
The Faculty of Medicine at the campus in Rome is a world-class training ground for future leaders in medical research and practice, public health, and Biomedical Sciences. In addition to Medicine and Surgery, UCSC includes the Nursing Sciences School and the Health Management School.
UCSC has actively participated in FP7 and Horizon 2020 projects, such as SICMA, EDEN, PULSE, ENCIRCLE, NO-FEAR, INCLUDING, EU-HYBNET, COVINFORM, SAFE STADIUM. UCSC is the coordinator of the ongoing project PANACEA.
PARTNER’S ROLE IN THE Nightingale PROJECT
Bringing its extensive experience in Horizon 2020 projects to NIGHTINGALE, UCSC undertakes the role of the Ethics, Privacy and Security Manager of the project. With the background in medical services, UCSC contributes to managing the involvement of medical practitioners and the Advisory Board and to the overall planning of the project.
The main research contribution is within WP1, where UCSC provides input on the specific role of hospital trauma teams in the framework of damage-control surgery and on military mass-casualty triage systems. UCSC is also actively involved in integration testing and validation of the developed tools and user familiarisation with them by organising and hosting pilot exercises.
