Hi NIGHTINGALE subscribers,

Welcome to the tenth edition of our LinkedIn newsletter! NIGHTINGALE aims to advance prehospital life support and triage with innovative technologies and digital solutions.

In this newsletter, you will find a wrap-up of the NIGHTINGALE project in 2024. This edition highlights the key project activities, events, publications, and milestones from the last twelve months.

The NIGHTINGALE project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 10102195.

NIGHTINGALE Events

2nd International Workshop, Milan – October

The 2nd International Workshop, hosted in Milan, was dedicated to strengthening the capabilities of first responders during mass casualty incidents. The event showcased the NIGHTINGALE toolkit, an AI-powered solution aimed at enhancing pre-hospital life support and triage in challenging scenarios. Emergency practitioners and first responders from across Europe shared their real-world experiences and challenges, sparking discussions on how the toolkit could help address these issues.

2nd Full-Scale Exercise, Savona – October

On October 5, 2024, NIGHTINGALE conducted its second Full-Scale Exercise (FSX) in Savona, Italy. This large-scale event involved over 300 participants, including simulated victims, technicians, and rescuers, enacting mass casualty incident scenarios. Serving as the project’s largest and final field validation exercise to date, it offered a critical opportunity to evaluate how the NIGHTINGALE toolkit can be utilised by first responders and citizens well beyond the project’s duration.

1st International Workshop, Paris – June

On Friday, June 7, 2024, NIGHTINGALE hosted its first International Workshop on Prehospital Tools in Mass Casualty Incidents. Organised by the MRMID Association, the workshop featured interactive sessions exploring NIGHTINGALE’s core objectives, focusing on their usefulness, benefits, and challenges. Experts such as Philip Cowburn from the NHS and Lee Wallis from WHO contributed to the discussions.

1st Full-Scale Exercise, Paris – June

On 9 June 2024, volunteers deployed the NIGHTINGALE toolkit in two distinct Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) scenarios at the CSP Training Centre, Villejust. The Full-Scale Exercise was organised and hosted by the Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris. In addition to the 23 NIGHTINGALE partners from 11 countries, the exercise involved volunteers from civil protection agencies, including emergency medical services and civic volunteers. They deployed, tested, and evaluated the developed tools during the exercise.
