Hi NIGHTINGALE subscribers,

In this edition, we are presenting some of the key activities that have taken place since our last newsletter and highlighting upcoming events and conferences, including a roundtable with end users and our first Small-Scale Exercise in Novara.

What’s New With NIGHTINGALE

NIGHTINGALE attends EENA Workshop on Implementing EU Law on Emergency Communications, 19-20 September

Our partner, ChapsVision, attended the second day of the EENA 112 Workshop on Implementing EU Law on Emergency Communications. This event facilitated discussions on the latest legislative changes to emergency communications in the European Union. The workshop has helped our technology partners be informed about improving the functioning and handling of emergency communication in Europe through our developing the Next-Generation Public-Safety Answering Point and Pan-European Mobile Emergency Application.

NIGHTINGALE Plenary Meeting, 27-28 June

Our Third Plenary Meeting took place in Dublin, Ireland, on the 27th and 28th of June. This meeting was organised and hosted by the communication and dissemination partner, Carr Communications. We had two intensive days of discussions, focusing on the progress updates and the next steps in the context of the upcoming testing and validation activities.

Our latest article has been published open access in the Journal of Prehospital and Disaster Medicine, which is the official publication of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM).  This article provides guidance to enhance mass casualty incident response triage, prehospital damage and life support, and prehospital processes using a modified Delphi methodology.

A Semantic Framework for Decision Making in Forest Fire Emergencies

Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) and Multimedia Knowledge and Social Media Analytics Laboratory – MKLab published their research in the MDPI journal of Applied Sciences. The article presents a conceptual framework that acts as a supporting tool in the decision-making process to prevent a wildfire event and provides valuable information to relevant stakeholders to detect possible wildfires. This publication was funded in the framework of two #H2020 projects: SAFERS project and NIGHTINGALE Project.

Upcoming Events

NIGHTINGALE Roundtable and Small-Scale Exercise in Novara, 16-20 October

Next month, NIGHTINGALE are going to Novara, Italy, for the roundtable with end users and the first Small-Scale Exercise. The roundtable will discuss the assessment of mass casualty incident response plans and provide recommendations for evaluating new technologies in mass casualty incident (MCI) scenarios. The Small-Scale Exercise will involve intensive testing of the NIGHTINGALE toolkit during the MCI scenario. The end users will have an opportunity to test, review, and provide valuable feedback on each individual tool and solution for the next development phase.

The entire consortium is busy preparing for this important milestone. We will be sharing updates on our social media channels both before and after the event.

Security Research Event, 24-25 October

We are pleased to announce NIGHTINGALE’s participation in the 2023 Security Research Event on the 24th and 25th of October in Brussels. As an exhibitor, we invite attendees to connect with our partners who will be representing our project at the event.

We will be working closely with fellow members of the Responder Technology Cluster (RTC), who will also be present at the event. We look forward to engaging with the security research community and fostering valuable interactions at this esteemed gathering.

You can help us reach more readers by sharing this post through your channels.

Best regards,

The NIGHTINGALE Team
