Remembering Professor Sten Einar Vilhelm Lennquist

We are profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of Professor Sten Lennquist, who led the International MRMID Association in the NIGHTINGALE project. He passed away on the 10th of November 2023 at the age of 86.

Professor Lennquist was a brilliant surgeon, scientist, and educator. His invaluable contributions to disaster medicine served as a beacon of inspiration for an entire generation of emergency doctors and researchers. His unwavering commitment to training medical professionals in the management of major incidents and disasters led to the establishment of an international training program (http://www.mrmi.eu/), fostering the education of emergency medical practitioners in Europe and worldwide. Professor Lennquist’s research and active involvement in NIGHTINGALE were pivotal in guiding the project.

On behalf of the members of the NIGHTINGALE project, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. May his legacy continue to inspire and guide us in the years to come. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
