NIGHTINGALE attends the MEDEA final event
On the 30th and 31st of October, NIGHTINGALE attended the MEDEA Project’s Final Event in Athens, Greece. The event was supported by the International Forum to Advance First Responder Innovation (IFAFRI) forum and addressed the topic of “Current and Foreseen Security Operations: Challenges and Capability Gaps”.
The event targeted practitioners, policy makers, and the industry related to the four following categories:
- Management of migration flows and asylum seekers
- Border management
- Fight against cross-border crime and terrorism
- Natural hazards and technological accidents
MEDEA is an EU-funded Coordination and Support Action project. It aims to establish and further develop a regional network of practitioners and other security-related actors in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea region.
NIGHTINGALE Participation
The Institute for Communications and Computer Science (ICCS) participated in the event. Dr Spyros Athanasiadis, one of the NIGHTINGALE Project Managers, presented the localisation system that has been developed within the NIGHTINGALE Toolkit as part of the event.
The first day of the event focused on the results and outcomes of MEDEA. The second day of the event saw participants showcasing their technological solutions ready for use in security operations. Here, Dr Spyros showcased tools within the NIGHTINGALE Toolkit, including the Digital Triage Tag, Triage Mobile Application, and the First Responder Wearable (FRW).
